Filipino Jins grabbed 21 medals in World Taekwondo Expo

MANILA, Philippines – Eleven members of the Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) – Ilocos Sur chapter won 21 medals in the 5th World Taekwondo Expo in Muju, South Korea last July 8-13.


The PTA held a motorcade on the major streets of Ilocos Sur’s 1st district last Sunday to introduce the triumphant players to the public.
The taekwondo jins won 5 golds, 7 silvers and 9 bronzes in the sparring and form competition.
Thirty-one countries participated in the competition, and the Ilocos Sur chapter was among the groups chosen by the PTA to represent the country.
The group's coach said the taekwondo jins from Ilocos Sur performed very well, considering that they were all young and were competing in an international competition for the first time.
The group is now preparing for another tournament in the United States.
