MANILA, Philippines – Jeson Patrombon's loss in the 2nd round of the Wimbledon junior singles tournament was due to the Filipino player's sore left foot, his coach said.

Patrombon's coach, Manny Tecson, said his ward's left foot swell shortly after his first-round victory over German Julian Genz.
"His foot was swollen after his match against the German… we're still taking anti-inflammatory for it and [applying] daily icing because in practice, I can feel it is not 100 percent," said Tecson.
Patrombon is still in contention in the junior doubles tournament.
Patrombon's pain was evident during his 2nd-round match against Belgium's Kimmer Coppejans.
"At the start of the second set, Coppejans could sense something was wrong with Jeson's mobility and started moving Jeson from side to side," said Tecson.
Coppejans took advantage of Patrombon's injury by consistently hitting the ball toward the baseline and preventing the Filipino from shortening the rallies.
Patrombon eventually lost the match, 7-6 (7-1), 6-1.
Tecson praised Patrombon for putting up a fight despite the pain.
"I can say Jeson gave his best," he said.
Patrombon, a native of Iligan, was hoping to improve on his quarterfinal finish in the Australian Open last January.
