No less than Manny Pacquiao has confirmed that his camp is in touch with the group telecommunications mogul Manuel V. Pangilinan over the possibility of holding the Filipino fight icon’s next fight in Manila in April.
Earlier, Pangilinan’s top lieutenant Ricky Vargas confirmed to News5 that he has spoken to Pacquiao business manager Eric Pineda. Vargas is president of Maynilad, of which Pangilinan serves as chairman.
Pacquiao’s talks with the MVP group comes despite a pronouncement from Top Rank head Bob Arum, the boxer’s promoter, saying he prefers a September fight instead.
The fighter said he has no problem with a later fight date.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao refused to confirm reports that negotiations are ongoing for a fifth fight between him and Juan Manuel Marquez. The Mexican legend shocked the sports world last December by knocking Pacquiao out in their fourth fight.
