MANILA, Philippines – Reigning WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao will get to meet fast-rising NBA star Jeremy Lin when the fighting congressman embarks on a coast-to-coast tour for his upcoming fight.
Boxing promoter Bob Arum told Philboxing.com’s Ronnie Nathanielsz that they will be taking Pacquiao to the Madison Square Garden for a meet and greet with the New York Knicks sensation.
“[We] will do something for Nike in the morning, shoot some more stuff in the afternoon and then we are taking him to Madison Square Garden for a meet and greet with the new Asian superstar in basketball, Jeremy Lin,” said Arum
Pacquiao will have a coast-to-coast media tour next week to promote his June 9 WBO welterweight title fight against Timothy Bradley.
Arum said Pacquiao is set to leave for the US Thursday night.
The boxer will begin his tour with a press conference in Beverly Hills, California on Tuesday.
After the press conference, Pacquiao will fly to New York for several engagements before meeting Lin.
Lin has become an overnight sensation after leading the Knicks to successive victories despite the absence of injured All-Stars Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire.
