MANILA, Philippines – Hall-of-Fame boxing trainer Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain wants Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez to give Filipino fight king Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao a boxing lesson when they clash for the fourth time on December 8.

Beristain, Marquez’s longtime trainer, engaged boxing fans in a short chat on ESPN SportsNation, wherein he revealed details of their ongoing training camp.

“We’re working on more strength and velocity. We want to go at Pacquiao. We want to show the world and leave no doubts we win the fight,” Beristain said.

Even though he wants more aggressiveness from Marquez, Beristain acknowledged that it will be difficult to knockout Pacquiao.

“It’s going to be a hard path, because Manny resists punishment,” Beristain answered when a fan asked if they are planning to “get a KO.”

“Going for the KO should be the strategy of Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao. Our plan is to give Manny another boxing lesson,” Beristain explained.

Pacquiao and Marquez fought to a draw when they first fought in 2004, but the Filipino won the rematches in 2008 and 2011. Marquez remains convinced that he won all three fights, however.

For the fourth fight, Beristain said Marquez is “100% focused.”

“His full attention is based on that. His future will depend on how this fight turns out,” said the trainer.

When asked if Pacquiao-Marquez IV is a potential contender for Fight of the Year, Beristain only said he is expecting a “grueling” fight.

“Any time that Marquez and Pacquiao face each other, it’s always a grueling fight. It’s a clash between a boxer who shows class and sheer power,” he said.

“There are people in Mexico that are excited and looking for tickets, even the expensive ones,” Beristain added.
