Pacquiao re-schedules next fight Dec.1, revives Mayweather speculations

Source : Manila Bulletin

In an intriguing development, Manny Pacquiao has decided to delay his ring return to December 1 instead of November 10, raising speculations that a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. might see the light of day.

This is because Pacquiao has not made any announcement regarding an opponent or a venue although the Filipino fighter’s adviser, Mike Koncz, pointed to a conflict in schedule as reason for the change of date.

With Floyd Mayweather Jr. already out after serving two months of a 90-day sentence in Las Vegas, there is speculation that Pacquiao and Mayweather might end up sharing the spotlight specially that Pacquiao has moved his comeback to December 1.

With more than four months to the new playdate, the camps of Pacquiao and Mayweather will have enough time to forge a deal and give the fighters enough time to prepare.

Fighters usually train eight to ten weeks to train for a fight of this magnitude, making the December date a possibility.

Top Rank chief Bob Arum had actually met with Pacquiao three weeks ago in General Santos City but the Hall of Fame promoter was unable to come up with something concrete except that Pacquiao is going to fight on Nov. 10.

Those close to Pacquiao have expressed concern over a plan to see him square off with Tim Bradley in a rematch, Juan Manuel Marquez for a fourth fight and a second clash with Miguel Cotto since a loss would jeopardize a megabuck matchup with Mayweather.

Mayweather recently hooked up with rapper-millionaire in forming TMT Promotions and even spoke highly of Pacquiao during an interview in Los Angeles, calling his pound-for-pound rival “an excellent fighter.”

In the past, Mayweather criticized Pacquiao, even labeling him a drug cheat.
