Roach : No rematch

Source : Manila Bulletin

LOS ANGELES — No rematch.

Lead trainer Freddie Roach said there’s no way Manny Pacquiao is going to lose to Tim Bradley next week in Las Vegas.
“When people get knocked out, there shouldn’t be a rematch,” Roach told a handful of Manila-based scribes during Pacquiao’s open workout on Wednesday afternoon at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood.

Roach dismissed the stunt that Bradley and Top Rank pulled off on the day before when the fighter posed beside a fight poster announcing a Nov. 10 rematch between him and Pacquiao.

A rematch clause was included in the fight contract that Bradley signed and the unbeaten puncher believes that exactly is going to happen.

Other materials, such as credential IDs and similar stuff, were distributed during the gimmick that was staged just before Bradley did his own open training session at the Fortune Gym on Sunset Boulevard.

“Why do they waste money on those fliers?” asked Roach, who sees the Filipino fighter reverting back to his old, deadly self come fight night at the MGM Grand.

“Manny is in a very good place. We have a big gameplan and we know how to handle this guy.”

Roach believes Bradley doesn’t have any other option but to meet Pacquiao head on even if he starts feeling Pacquiao’s paralyzing power.

“(Assistant trainer) Buboy (Fernandez) feels that Bradley will start to run once he feels Manny’s power but I disagree. I think he doesn’t know how to run and he will be aggressive all night long and Manny’s going to eat him up once he comes forward.”

Still, Roach thinks that the end will come a bit later in the fight and not in the early rounds.

“It could be (a short fight) but he is a durable tough guy. It will be fun to watch.”

Nevertheless, Bradley has visions of grandeur and is convinced that he is not hallucinating.
