Homeless World Cup : Philippines scores upset win over USA

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) - The Philippines pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the ongoing Homeless World Cup tournament in Paris, France by defeating the United States, 4-3, on Monday.


The Philippines led 3-1 at the end of the first half before the Americans clawed back, according to Street Soccer Philippines.

The Pinoys, composed of Jeffrey Guelas, Bert Anthony Sienes, Aljhonn Loui Matulac, Ricardo Padilla Jr., John Celiz, Jeffrey De Castro, Michel Rojo, and Janrick Soriano, stunned Ghana, 3-2, earlier in the day.

The Philippines now has 2 wins against a single loss.

They lost their first match against Slovenia.

The Philippines will next face the Netherlands and Switzerland on Tuesday.

The Pinoys only need one more win in the group stage to advance to the knockout round.

Team Philippines is grouped with Ghana, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United States in Group H.
